CHAPTER SUMMARY:
Still reeling from his complicated feelings for Kaleb (and that kiss), Lucas attempts to reset— starting with some much-needed self-care. But avoiding drama isn’t so easy when the world around you doesn’t just reset, too. Kaleb has suddenly left the boarding house without a word, leaving Lucas even more lost. When Joshua confronts him at B-Side Records, demanding that he back off from Kaleb, Lucas realizes just how messy things have gotten.
As he searches for clarity, Carina reminds Lucas that sometimes the best way to move forward is to take care of yourself first. He takes her advice— running a bath, lighting a candle, and pressing play on Carter’s tapes. But just as he starts to relax, Kaleb unexpectedly returns— and walks in on Lucas in the bathtub. Their reunion is short-lived when Joshua arrives, setting the stage for a tense rooftop confrontation…
That’s when the real truth about Kaleb and Joshua’s complicated past finally comes to light— Joshua had been cheating on Kaleb for the past year. He only moved out of Bourbon Street Boarding in an attempt to salvage their relationship and preserve his friendships with the others. But after so much deception, Lucas’ housemates aren’t ready to forgive Joshua just yet.
When Joshua leaves that night, the others finally apologize to Lucas for how they’ve treated him. In that moment, the tension lifts, leaving behind something new— a sense of hope.
For the first time, Lucas isn’t just the new guy in the house. He’s part of something real. A family.
