Our first ever August Treat is THE BRIGHT SESSIONS— with a special shoutout to Lauren Shippen, Briggon Snow, and their whole team who created this incredibly special fiction podcast, and really laid some groundwork in the audio fiction space for other creators to learn and grow. It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of the whole team at Atypical Artists, and that I love so much of what they do. THE BRIGHT SESSIONS is a science fiction audio drama that follows a group of therapy patients. But these aren’t your typical patients— each has a unique supernatural ability. The show documents their struggles and discoveries as well as the motivations of their mysterious therapist, Dr. Bright. I mean… YA! Science Fiction! This is a show built for us to recommend. But even if that weren’t the case, this show peels back layers of power, identity, and humanity. It’s deeply character-driven, quietly unsettling, and full of heart. A perfect mix of sci-fi and soul-searching that lingers long after you hit pause. Check it out!!
